One of the items on my bucket list is to go to Alaska and see the Northern Lights. If you have seen pictures, it is a spectacular sight to behold. This absolutely breathtaking light show is created by gas particles from the Earth’s atmosphere colliding with particles from the sun’s atmosphere and the result is the night sky being filled with vibrant, dynamic colour. Just from colliding gas particles!
God made that.
Moraine Lake, is a glacially fed lake in Alberta and it looks like a graphic designer put it together. The still water is an unreal turquoise colour and it is surrounded by beautiful, imposing mountains and lush, green forest and there is a tangible sense of serenity, that even looking at the pictures inspire.
God made that as well.
Psalm 19:1 says ‘The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands’ and verses 3 and 4 says they have no speech and use no words but that their voice goes out to the ends of the world. As people who reside in concrete jungles these proclamations are easy to miss, everything we see is man made, but all it takes is a step outside the city limits and you hear the sound of the heavens declaring the wonder of God. Just a few moments walking on a path through the woods or sitting by a lake or an ocean. Staring up at the stars on a clear night or watching the majesty of a waterfall all sings the praises of the God who spoke it all into existence. The wonder of creation calls our attention to the wonderful God behind, who not only holds it all together but also holds us as well.
