1 Thessalonians 5:18 (The PASSION),
“In the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.”

In The Midst of Everything

Did you hear that? “IN THE MIDST OF EVERYTHING BE ALWAYS GIVING THANKS!” This is not saying we should give thanks for everything, BUT IN EVERYTHING. Why is that? Because we recognize God’s sovereign hand is in charge, and not blind fate or chance.
Somebody says, “Wait a minute Pastor, are you saying when I go to the doctor and get a bad report, give thanks?” YES! “You mean, when I lose my job, give thanks?” YES! “You mean, when disappointment and discouragement hits my life, give thanks?” YES! “You mean, when my plans are thwarted, and friends betray me, and my children have forgotten me, that I am to give thanks?” YES! What God means is to thank Him for His presence and power as we walk through such trials. You see, in Christ Jesus there is victory and triumph over all circumstances, no matter how terrible, we can thank God for the victory He has given us through Christ.
The great preacher, Charles Spurgeon said, “I have not always found it easy to practice this duty; this I confess to my shame.” Not thanking God is a terrible oversight, and one that may be terribly easy to do, especially when your day is busy. But busy days are best organized by God. Over and over, that truth becomes apparent when you offer up your day to God with thanksgiving; it is then you begin to release the power of God in your life. My precious friend; remember to be thankful today, “FOR THIS IS GOD’S PERFECT PLAN FOR YOU IN CHRIST JESUS!”
