Psalm 3:5-6 (The PASSION)

“So now I’ll lie down and sleep like a baby— then I’ll awake in safety, for you surround me with your glory…Even though dark powers prowl around me, I won’t be afraid.”

Blessing of Sleep!

You know what it feels like when troubles keep you awake at night? Has fear robbed you of sleep lately? You toss and turn with your mind racing a mile a minute. Or you just lay there staring out into the blackness as time ever so slowly passes into what seems like an eternity. King David was under such intense pressure fleeing from his own son Absalom, who was in hot pursuit to kill him and take the throne. You would think that under such circumstances that sleep might be impossible, but David slept like a baby. How could he sleep at a time like that? What is the secret? Here it is: SLEEP IS GOD’S BLESSING TO US! Psalm 127:2 (AMP), “He gives [blessings] to His beloved in sleep.” Can you just hear David saying, “God, I’m not going to sweat over it. You take the night shift, I’m going to sleep.” Friend; you can also receive God’s blessing of sleep even in the most troubling times. Some precious Saint wrote this prayer: “Begone, dull, worrying care! Let me rest sweet Faith and Hope, close mine eyes and still my heart. Jesus, give me sleep, and in sleeping give me my heart’s desire, that I may awake and be satisfied. Amen!" LET GO, AND LET GOD SHOULDER THE BURDEN!
